Tea, the Queen, and Me

It's cold in England! A heavy jacket, hat, and mittens were necessary for today's outings. We took things slow today, getting a lay of the land. We explored the area around our apartment building. We are in a fabulous place! The famous Hyde Park is literally doors down from us and Kensington Palace is a 3 minute walk. Some of the group opted to walk in the park and visit Kensington this afternoon. Princess Diana's gowns were on display. We wandered the halls where kings had walked and took in breathtaking art work and antiques. After exploring the palace we headed over to The Orangery, a famous tea room on the palace property, and partook of proper afternoon tea. Earl gray, black current, and orange blossom teas were served with dessert in a room overlooking the Palace grounds. We regrouped this afternoon and headed onto London's subway system The Tube. Mr. Resinger has proven to be a fabulous tour guide! We took a whirlwind tour of the city by night, visiting Trafalgar Square and strolling by Westminster. The city is awe inspiring in the evening! Tomorrow we are planning to rise early and head over to the Nottinghill Market. We will upload more pictures and info after our adventure continues.

Hi, Matthew,
Sounds like you all are having a memorable time - we are so happy that you're getting this opportunity! Sorry you didn't bring proper warm clothing - hope you're not minding the cold too much. Please take lots of pictures so we can enjoy the trip, too. Anna's having a sleepover this Saturday with two girlfriends - be thankful that you're on the other side of the ocean!

Love,
Mom
