The Countdown Has Begun!

We are counting the days until our departure! Let's meet in room C-104 during break on Wednesday to discuss our plans for the trip in greater detail. If you haven't submitted a copy of your passport to Mrs. Houck, do so ASAP! Some things to consider:

• If you're using a credit/debit card on the trip, make sure that it is approved for international use. Otherwise the issuing bank may "flag" the card and not allow it's use. Call the issuing bank and let them know your traveling dates and intent to use the card in Europe (and possibly New York).
• You may want to exchange a little cash for pounds before you get to London. Call your bank and see if they offer an exchange service for foreign currency. Bank of America offers the service for account holders at their downtown office.
• Talk to others in the group and see if you can agree on sharing particular items (hair dryer, starighteners, etc). Remember you will need a convertor and not just an adapter.
• If you plan to use your cell phone while on the trip, contact your carrier. They will tell you if your phone will work internationally and what fees you may incur. Keep in mind that text messaging and phone calls made internationally will likely be outside of your plan. For those using T-Mobile, you will need to call and activate the international feature for your plan. The activation is free, but it will need to be done prior to leaving. Don't forget to bring your phone charger when you pack.
• Talk to your parents and decide how you will keep in touch. Will they expect to hear from you when you land? Half way through the trip? Before you fly home? We should have access to internet cafes and e-mailing will likely be the cheapest form of communication.
